Independent Reform Party of Ontario Bruce Grey Owen Sound Provincial Constituency Association

For years, the Counties of Bruce and Grey and the City of Owen Sound have been a huge part of Ontario, strongly rural based and traditionally a conservative stronghold, civic politics have been progressive, allowing for our area to make reforms at the provincial and federal level. We helped base much of the populist support that trailblazed popular politicians of the people like Agnes Campbell MacPhail and Ernest Charles Drury, both members who were agriculture and labour friendly, and their administrations within the United Farmers of Ontario and Cooperative Commonwealth Federation. Many of the protest grops formed in Bruce Grey Owen Sound area promoted agrarian and labour based interests in the province and brought the issues therein to the legislature. Organizations within our area affiliated with these reforms have been Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Christian Farmers Federation of Ontario, Grey County Federation of Agriculture, Bruce County Federation of Agriculture, Ontario Federation of Labour and Grey and Bruce Labour Council, all important in making that farmer-labour coalition needed to unite the area politically without compromising principles and policies.

Lack of an alternative to the Big Three

At the federal level when the Reform Party was created back in 1987, it was born from a rift among small 'c' conservative voters who felt the federal Progressive Conservative Party's compromises to gain office were unsustainable. Just like the federal Reform Party, our goal is to elect a representative free of the party special interests that freeze the members of the Big Three parties using a campaign made out of a broad coalition of support from political affiliations across the board all fighting for one common idea - sending a local Bruce Grey Owen Sound populist representative as Member of Provincial Parliament to represent the people of Bruce Grey Owen Sound at Toronto Ontario's Queen's Park Legislative Building. Recently, we have witnessed the average Ontario voter go from 1985-1990's centre left David Peterson's Liberals to 1990-1995's left Robert Rae's New Democratic to 1995-2002's right-centre right Michael Harris' Progressive Conservative without satisfaction. They have tried all and each of the Big Three and have come back unfulfilled and empty handed. They wanted someone who would give them local representation and instead got a member of a party who voted as its political stripes allowed them too. Forget the party and instead get the representative independently for real reform.

Bruce Grey Owen Sound Ontario Matters!

Why is it that all of the Big Three Premiers and Governments have ignored the real needs of the people in Bruce Grey Owen Sound and Ontario? With each major political party of Ontario (Progressive Conservative, Liberal and New Democratic) havig a shot, why isn't the public happy with any one of the three and ask for a stronger alternative and better choice? The most obvious answer is that Bruce Grey Owen Sound and Ontario has been taken for granted. Bruce Grey Owen Sound and Ontario voters will return the party in power regardless of who leads the party and whether their policies are good for Ontario. That's why an Independent Reform candidate would take the needs of Bruce Grey Owen Sound to Queen's Park not Queen's Park's dictation back to Bruce Grey Owen Sound. An Independent Reform MPP would represent Bruce Grey Owen Sound as an independent of any party's policies and would work to reform the system for their home riding.
